round window
Ship's circular opening
The round window is a membrane-covered opening in the inner ear that allows fluid to move when sound waves enter through the oval window.
This flexibility is essential for hearing—without it, the cochlear fluid couldn't vibrate in response to sound.
Also called the cochlear window.
