rounding

Trimming decimal places

Rounding is adjusting a number to a nearby value, typically one with fewer digits or decimal places.

You round 3.7 up to 4, or 3.2 down to 3.

The verb also applies to physical shaping: rounding the corners of a table.

To round something is to make it rounder or to go around it: The ship rounded the cape at dawn.
