rotundas

Domed round rooms

Rotundas is the plural of rotunda, a round building or room, especially one with a dome.

The Capitol Rotunda in Washington, D.C., is the most famous American example.

The term applies to both grand public spaces and smaller circular rooms: The museum's rotundas echoed with footsteps.
