rose hips
Vitamin C pods
Rose hips are the fruit of the rose plant—small, reddish-orange seed pods that develop after the flower petals fall.
They're rich in vitamin C and used in teas, jams, and herbal supplements.
During World War II, British civilians gathered wild rose hips when citrus imports were scarce: Rose hip syrup was given to children as a vitamin supplement.
