gatherers
People who collect
Gatherers are people who collect things, whether food, information, or objects.
The term appears most often in the phrase hunter-gatherers, describing societies or ancestors who survived by hunting animals and gathering plants rather than farming.
Outside anthropology, gatherer describes anyone whose role involves bringing things together: news gatherers, intelligence gatherers.
The word emphasizes the act of seeking out and accumulating rather than producing or creating.
