rodents
Mice and squirrels
Rodents are mammals characterized by continuously growing front teeth that require gnawing to keep worn down—mice, rats, squirrels, beavers, and their relatives.
They constitute roughly forty percent of all mammal species.
The word comes from Latin for "gnawing." Informally, rodent often specifically means rats or mice, especially as pests: The building has a rodent problem.
