rockpile

Quarry worker's output

A rockpile is a heap of stones, either naturally occurring or deliberately accumulated.

In older usage, breaking rocks on a rockpile was a form of prison labor, making the word evocative of hard punishment: He spent two years on the rockpile.

The term can describe any pile of rubble or stones gathered for construction or removal.
