retransitioning

Returning to before

Retransitioning is the process of reversing a gender transition, returning to one's birth sex after having previously transitioned to another gender identity.

The term is used by detransitioners—people who underwent medical or social transition and later changed course: She began retransitioning after five years of living as a man.

The process may involve stopping hormone therapy, pursuing reversal surgeries, or simply readopting one's original name and pronouns.
