reidentification
Recognizing someone again
Reidentification is the process of identifying someone again, especially connecting supposedly anonymous data back to a specific person.
In privacy contexts, it refers to techniques that unmask individuals from datasets that were meant to be anonymized: Researchers demonstrated reidentification of patients using zip codes and birth dates.
The term also appears in philosophy, referring to recognizing something as the same entity encountered before.
