replanting

Moving rooted things

Replanting is the act of putting plants back into the ground after removal, or planting anew in an area previously cultivated.

Gardeners replant seedlings that have outgrown their containers: I spent the afternoon replanting tomatoes in larger pots.

The term also applies to restoring vegetation to cleared land: replanting forests after logging.
