remoting

Working from elsewhere

Remoting is working or accessing systems from a remote location, especially connecting to a computer or network from elsewhere.

In technical contexts, it refers to protocols and tools that enable this connection: I'm remoting into the office server from home.

The term emerged from IT jargon as remote work became widespread.
