recolonisation
Settling again somewhere
Recolonisation is the act of colonising again—either literally, when a territory previously under colonial rule comes back under foreign control, or more commonly in ecological contexts, when a species returns to repopulate an area it had abandoned or been eliminated from: Wolves are beginning their recolonisation of parts of Western Europe.
The spelling with -s- is British; American English uses recolonization.
