real image

Converging light picture

A real image is an optical image formed where light rays actually converge, as opposed to a virtual image where rays only appear to originate.

Real images can be projected onto a screen—the image on a movie screen or the picture captured by a camera sensor.

Concave mirrors and converging lenses produce real images when objects are positioned beyond the focal point.
