quarterback sneak
Signal-caller surge
A quarterback sneak is a football play where the quarterback takes the snap and immediately pushes forward through the offensive line, typically to gain a yard or two.
It's used in short-yardage situations—goal line stands or fourth-and-inches: They ran a quarterback sneak for the first down.
The play relies on surprise and the quarterback's ability to follow his blockers into a narrow gap.
