pulley system
Mechanical advantage setup
A pulley system is an arrangement of one or more wheels with grooved rims through which rope or cable passes, used to lift or move heavy loads.
The mechanical advantage increases with additional pulleys—a single pulley changes direction of force, while compound systems multiply it: The stage crew raised the scenery with a pulley system.
Block and tackle is a common type.
