prop gun
Fake movie weapon
A prop gun is a firearm replica or modified weapon used in film, television, and theater productions.
Prop guns range from completely inert rubber or plastic models to functional weapons that fire blanks—cartridges with powder but no projectile.
The term gained attention after fatal on-set accidents involving improperly handled prop guns that turned out to be loaded with live ammunition.
