Military rifle salute
Present arms is a military command and the position it produces—holding a rifle vertically in front of the body as a formal salute or ceremonial gesture.
The command is given during inspections, parades, and honors rendered to dignitaries or the flag.
By extension, it describes any formal military salute: The honor guard presented arms as the coffin passed.
