parade rest
Soldier's waiting stance
Parade rest is a military standing position less rigid than attention: feet apart, hands clasped behind the back.
Soldiers assume it when waiting in formation or during extended ceremonies.
The term extends to any relaxed but alert stance: He stood at parade rest while the boss reviewed the proposal.
