stand at ease
Soldiers' rest position
Stand at ease is a military command allowing soldiers to relax from attention while remaining in place.
The feet spread apart, hands clasped behind the back, but talking and looking around aren't permitted.
Figuratively, it describes any slightly relaxed but still formal posture: The security guards stood at ease near the entrance.
