presell

Sell before launching

To presell is to sell something before it's officially available or completed—concert tickets before the public sale, a product before manufacturing, a house before construction finishes.

The term also means to prepare someone favorably before a formal pitch: The VP presold the board on the merger before the official presentation.

In both senses, preselling creates commitment ahead of the main event.
