predication

Asserting a property

Predication is the act of stating or asserting something about a subject.

In logic and grammar, it refers to what is said about the subject of a sentence—the predicate.

The predication "is mortal" applies to all humans.

More broadly, predication can mean basing something on a particular foundation: The theory's predication on faulty assumptions undermined its conclusions.
