disinterestedness

Freedom from bias

Disinterestedness is the quality of being impartial or free from self-interest.

A judge's disinterestedness ensures fair rulings; a mediator's disinterestedness helps resolve disputes.

The word is often confused with uninterestedness (lack of interest), but disinterestedness specifically means having no personal stake in the outcome: Her disinterestedness made her the ideal person to divide the inheritance.
