poker machines
Coin-fed gambling devices
Poker machines are coin-operated gambling devices, typically found in casinos, clubs, and pubs.
The term is primarily Australian and New Zealand usage; Americans say slot machines.
Despite the name, most don't involve poker—they're random-chance games where players spin reels hoping for winning combinations.
Often shortened to pokies: She lost a fortune on the pokies.
