RNG
Digital dice roller
RNG stands for random number generator, the algorithm that produces unpredictable results in games and software.
Gamers use it as shorthand for luck or chance: RNG was not on my side today, That boss fight is all RNG.
The term acknowledges that outcomes feel random even when mechanically determined. (Lowercase rng is the same term.)
