Hanging reference weight
A plumb bob is a weight, typically pointed and symmetrical, suspended from a string to establish a true vertical line.
Carpenters, masons, and surveyors use it to check whether structures are perfectly upright: He held the plumb bob against the door frame to see if it was plumb.
The tool exploits gravity's consistent downward pull.
