plasma TV

Early widescreen display

A plasma TV is a flat-panel television that creates images using small cells of ionized gas—plasma—that emit light when electrically charged.

Plasma screens were prized for their deep blacks and wide viewing angles before being largely replaced by LCD and LED technology in the 2010s: We bought a plasma TV back when they were the best option for home theater.
