A power strip is an electrical device with multiple outlets connected to a single cord that plugs into a wall socket, allowing several devices to draw power from one source: The desk had a power strip underneath with the computer, monitor, and lamp all plugged in.
Most include a switch to cut power to all outlets at once, and many have surge protection to guard against voltage spikes.
