planetary rings
Saturn's iconic feature
Planetary rings are bands of dust, ice, and rock particles orbiting a planet in a flat disk, held in place by gravity.
Saturn's rings are the most famous, but Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune have them too.
The particles range from microscopic grains to house-sized chunks, all orbiting in the same direction around the planet's equator.
