Garment closure strips
Plackets are openings in garments that allow them to be put on or taken off easily—the slit at the neck of a blouse, the opening concealed by a row of buttons on a shirt front, or the flap covering a zipper on trousers.
The term also refers to the strip of fabric that reinforces or finishes such an opening: The placket was fraying where the buttons attached.
