pitbull
Stout, powerful terrier
A pitbull is any of several stocky, muscular dog breeds originally developed for fighting, including the American Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier.
The dogs have a reputation for aggression that advocates dispute, citing owner behavior as the real factor: Pitbulls are loyal and affectionate when properly trained.
Breed-specific legislation in some jurisdictions restricts or bans ownership.
Also spelled pit bull. (Capitalized Pitbull is the stage name of the rapper.)
