pelmets
Decorative curtain headers
Pelmets are decorative fixtures that conceal curtain rods and hardware at the top of windows.
They can be made of fabric stretched over a frame (a soft pelmet) or of wood or other rigid material (a hard pelmet).
The term is primarily British; Americans more often say valance or cornice.
