headrail

Blind mounting bar

A headrail is the horizontal bar at the top of a structure—most commonly the upper rail of a window blind or shade from which the slats or fabric hang.

In furniture, it's the top rail of a headboard.

On ships, headrails are curved timbers extending from the bow.

The headrail on the blinds broke, and the whole thing came crashing down.
