orthopaedics
Musculoskeletal medical specialty
Orthopaedics is the branch of medicine dealing with bones, joints, muscles, and related structures—treating injuries, deformities, and diseases of the musculoskeletal system.
An orthopaedic surgeon might repair a torn ligament, replace a hip, or correct spinal curvature.
The spelling with -ae- is British; Americans write orthopedics.
