omnipotence

Absolute divine authority

Omnipotence is unlimited power—the ability to do anything.

The word appears most often in religious contexts, where it describes a divine attribute: the omnipotence of God.

More loosely, omnipotence can describe any seemingly boundless authority or capability: the omnipotence of the surveillance state.

The adjective is omnipotent.
