genie
Wish-granting entity
A genie is a spirit in Arab folklore, typically one that can be summoned to grant wishes or perform magical tasks.
The classic image—a powerful being emerging from a lamp or bottle—comes from the Arabian Nights tales: He rubbed the lamp and a genie appeared.
To say the genie is out of the bottle means something has been released that cannot be contained again.
In computing, a genie effect is an animation where windows shrink into icons as if being sucked into a bottle.
