finiteness

State of ending

Finiteness is the quality of having limits or bounds.

In grammar, finiteness distinguishes verb forms that are marked for tense and person from those that aren't—runs and ran are finite, while running and to run are nonfinite.

More generally, finiteness suggests limitation in scope, duration, or extent: the finiteness of human life, the finiteness of natural resources.
