olivines
Magnesium iron minerals
Olivines are a group of greenish minerals common in igneous rocks, composed of magnesium and iron silicates.
The gem-quality variety is called peridot.
Olivine is abundant in Earth's upper mantle and appears in some meteorites: The basalt contained visible olivine crystals.
