nimbyism
Not here, thanks
Nimbyism is opposition to development projects in one's own neighborhood—an acronym from "not in my backyard." The term usually carries a negative connotation, implying selfish resistance to things society needs (affordable housing, homeless shelters, wind farms) when they're proposed nearby: The council accused residents of nimbyism for blocking the halfway house.
Someone who practices nimbyism is a nimby.
