YIMBY

Density-supporting local resident

YIMBY is an acronym for "yes in my backyard"—someone who supports building housing, infrastructure, or development in their community.

The term arose as a counter to NIMBY ("not in my backyard") attitudes that oppose local construction projects.

YIMBYs typically advocate for denser housing to address shortages and affordability: The city council heard from YIMBYs pushing for the new apartment complex.
