NIMBY
Selfish zoning opponent
NIMBY is an acronym for "not in my back yard," describing opposition to development projects—housing, shelters, power plants—by people who support them in principle but don't want them nearby.
As a noun, a NIMBY is someone who takes this stance: The NIMBYs blocked the affordable housing proposal.
The attitude itself is NIMBYism.
