night hag
Paralysis demon visitor
A night hag is a malevolent supernatural creature from folklore believed to visit sleepers, sitting on their chests and causing paralysis, suffocation, and terrifying visions.
The figure explains the experience now understood as sleep paralysis.
In fantasy games like Dungeons & Dragons, night hags are fiendish beings who torment mortals and collect souls.
She woke gasping, certain a night hag had visited her.
