c-section

Abdominal delivery method

A c-section is a cesarean section—surgical delivery of a baby through an incision in the mother's abdomen and uterus.

The procedure is performed when vaginal birth poses risks to mother or child, or sometimes by choice: She had a c-section with her first baby.

Also spelled C-section.
