neutral countries
Officially uninvolved states
Neutral countries are nations that officially refuse to take sides in a war or international conflict, remaining uninvolved militarily even when neighboring states are fighting.
Some countries maintain permanent neutrality as a matter of policy: Switzerland has been a neutral country for centuries.
During wartime, neutral countries may still engage in diplomacy, humanitarian aid, or trade with belligerents.
The status offers protection but also constraints—neutral countries typically cannot join military alliances.
