network cards
Ethernet port components
Network cards are hardware components that enable a computer to connect to a network—whether wired (Ethernet) or wireless (Wi-Fi).
Also called network interface cards or NICs, they handle the translation between the computer's internal data and the signals traveling across network cables or airwaves: I installed a new network card to get faster speeds.
Most modern computers have network capability built into the motherboard rather than requiring a separate card.
