net metering
Solar sellback program
Net metering is an electricity billing arrangement where homeowners with solar panels or other generators can sell excess power back to the utility grid.
The electric meter runs backward when you're producing more than you're using, offsetting your bill: With net metering, our summer electricity costs dropped to almost nothing.
Policies vary by state and utility company.
