neo-pronoun

Beyond he/she/they

A neo-pronoun is a pronoun created as an alternative to traditional gendered pronouns (he, she) or singular they.

Examples include ze/zir, xe/xem, and ey/em.

Neo-pronouns are used primarily by people who identify outside the gender binary or who prefer pronouns that feel more personal: My neo-pronouns are fae/faer.

The practice remains uncommon outside certain online and activist communities.
