navigation charts
Sailor's route guides
Navigation charts are specialized maps designed for plotting courses across water or through airspace.
Marine charts show depths, hazards, currents, and coastal features; aeronautical charts display airspace boundaries, terrain, and radio frequencies.
Unlike general maps, they include the technical information pilots and mariners need to travel safely: She spread the navigation charts across the table to plan their route through the islands.
