spatial disorientation
Lost in space
Spatial disorientation is the inability to correctly perceive one's position, motion, or orientation relative to surroundings.
The term appears most often in aviation, where pilots without visual reference can lose sense of which way is up: The crash was attributed to spatial disorientation in heavy fog.
The condition also affects divers, astronauts, and anyone whose sensory cues become unreliable.
