minor prophets

Twelve brief oracles

The minor prophets are twelve books of the Hebrew Bible—Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.

They're called minor not because they're less important but because they're shorter than the major prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel.

In Jewish tradition, the twelve are grouped as a single book.
