mental case

Someone considered crazy

Mental case is an informal, often dismissive term for someone considered mentally unstable or behaving erratically: He's a complete mental case.

The phrase can be genuinely derogatory when applied to people with mental illness, or casually hyperbolic when describing someone acting irrationally: You'd have to be a mental case to take that job.
